GOOD SAMARITANS
LENTEN CHRISTIAN SERVICE PROJECT 2023
We are approaching the season of Lent when we center ourselves on the sufferings and death of Jesus. Knowing that His sacrifices were done out of His love for us, Lent is the time that we ask ourselves what we can do in return.
Every year as a parish, the Good Samaritans offer us a way to help those in need. Beginning on February 25th, and continuing for five weeks, we will collect donations for three worthy causes.
Roots & Wings: This nonprofit, located in Denville provides free housing, education & employment support, food, clothing, and emotional support allowing youth that have aged out of the foster care system to become truly self-sufficient.
Statistics: 600-800 youth age out of foster care in NJ per year. 40% - 50% become homeless within 18 months. About 80% of inmates in our prison systems have spent time in foster care. Roots & Wings pays $35,000 to $40,000 per young person, per year.
Lastly, we will support our Youth Group’s annual trip to West Virginia to repair and build homes for the very poor.
If you can help us to support these organizations, kindly place all monetary donations in the collection jugs located in the Narthex. Checks are also welcomed and made payable to St. Peter the Apostle with “Lenten Project” written in the memo. We are deeply grateful for your participation with this service project. May God bless you especially during Lent.

Please take time to consider your legacy – and the legacy of our Catholic faith.
God has blessed and entrusted each of us with many gifts. As His faithful stewards, we are all called to cherish and share these gifts with others and to return them with increase to the Lord.
Every parishioner has an opportunity to express their love of God and return to Him a measure of the blessings He has bestowed. As stewards of God’s gifts, we are each called to reflect upon our final act of stewardship before returning home to the Lord.
We ask that you prayerfully consider making a legacy gift to our Church that strengthens our parish for future generations or as we say, “pay it forward by giving back.”
We are pleased to offer a Q&A in our Parish website to help you in the planning process. Please call Fr. David at Rectory Office, 973-334-2090, with any questions you may have regarding a current or legacy gift. Click here for more info
