Peter Gillis joined the staff of Saint Peter the Apostle in August of 2013, having held previous directorships at Immaculate Conception, Montclair; Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, Roseland; and St. Valentine, Bloomfield. As a tenor soloist he has sung professionally in concert and opera throughout the U.S. and Canada, and in Italy. In 1995 he was honored with an invitation to perform as soloist during the visit of Saint John Paul II to the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, with the President of the United States in attendance. Peter received his early musical education at Catholic schools in his home parish on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. He holds a doctorate from the Juilliard School and additional degrees from Indiana University and Westminster Choir College, Princeton.
