FORMING CHRISTIANS FOR LIFE
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a treasure given to us by
the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council. It is a process that challenge
parishes to stop making scholars and start making disciples. This is not
easy. Our entire formation system has placed a heavy emphasis on
knowing the doctrines of our faith. This is important, but all too often
such knowledge is seen as separate from everyday living. Our role as
catechists is to educate people on how to live as Christians. We begin with
a knowledge of Jesus and teach the principles according to which
He taught us to live.
Hence, the RCIA process offers an apprenticeship in Christian
discipleship. It is open to all unbaptized adults who are interested in preparing for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. It is also open to baptized Christians, Catholic and non-Catholic who have not received the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation.
If you are interested in becoming Catholic or know of anyone interested in becoming Catholic or wanting to complete their Christian Initiation, please have adults contact Chris Leone, our RCIA coordinator, at [email protected] or (908) 528 – 0865. Feel free to contact the Rectory also at 973-334-2090.
Parents with children of Catechetical age should contact our parish Religious Education Center at 973-335-1969
Adults may also complete the information forms and mail them or drop them off at the Rectory located at 179 Baldwin Rd., Parsippany, NJ 07054.
